Internet | “Always-on” access (ADSL)
printer friendly version
EUROtel Internet ADSL offers you the possibility to be online 24 hours a day and 7 days a week („flatrate“), without additional costs each time you connect. You may therefore relax while using the internet. The most significant advantage over a dialup connection are the considerably higher data transfer speeds of your ADSL connection. Furthermore you can use your phone or fax whilst being connected to the internet via ADSL!

From 01. August '10 we offer the following monthly bandwidth packages:
Data volume Monthly cost incl. VAT
DSL 1GB R 75
DSL 2GB R 135
DSL 3GB R 195
DSL 5GB R 310
DSL 7GB R 435

The bandwidth limit you choose means that the entire volume of data that you up- and download on a monthly basis may not exceed this limit. You can however monitor your usage continually ( log on to "ADSL User Statistics" ) and, if necessary, purchase additional Gigabytes. Our comprehensive service includes telephonic notification when your limit has been reached.

All offers include up to 4 email addresses, webmail (worldwide email access), virus- and spam protection........

WHAT YOU NEED:
  1. The Telkom exchange in your area needs to support ADSL. Just call us on 0860 338 566 and we will check the availability while you are on the line.

  2. You need a standard (=analog) telephone connection from Telkom.

  3. Your computer must meet certain minimum requirements. Every PC with an operating system from Windows 98 and a processor equivalent to a Pentium II will meet these requirements. For the use of special web services (e.g. video conferencing) the requirements will however be much higher. Naturally you can also use ADSL with Linux or Mac operating systems.

  4. You need to order an ADSL line from Telkom (billed directly through Telkom). This however is just the line and not the necessary internet connection.
  5. (Pricing June 2008)

Please note: Telkom charges an installation fee for your ADSL line and you are advised that you may wait 4 to 5 weeks for your connection.
Telkom line (k = speed) Monthly charge incl. VAT

    Our tip:
Enquire about “DSL self installation option (SIO)“ and save up to R437 (cost of Telkom technician)

For up-to-date information please consult the Telkom website. www.telkom.co.za.

  6. You require an ADSL modem. If you do not already own an ADSL modem, you may purchase one from your local computer retailer. Well known brands include Netgear, D-LINK, Cisco.
  7. We supply your ADSL access

As soon as Telkom has activated your ADSL line (WAN/ ADSL- LED is green on your ADSL router), please call us. We will activate your ADSL access. You will immediately be able to enjoy all the perks of the Internet, utilising your chosen bandwidth, without any time pressure.
